José Valentino Ruiz will give a pre-concert talk on “Rhythms of the Americas.” This will explore the history of composers and musical styles of North America, Mexico, Central America, and South America. The day includes a Lunch & Learn workshop (12:00–1:00 p.m.), a pre-concert presentation at 6:30 PM, and an evening Concert 7:00-8:00 PM featuring the premiere of original compositions Dr. Ruiz has dedicated to Magdalena Garcia and El Museo Latino. Dr. Ruiz is an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Music Business & Entrepreneurship program at the University of Florida. He is also an internationally touring multi-instrumentalist, four-time Latin Grammy Award winner, Emmy Award winner, 2026 Billboard Latin Power Players honoree, and winner of the Global Genius Grand Prize for Music.
