Dustin and Angela Twiss will speak about the influence of their Lakota culture on their artwork during the opening reception of the West Nebraska Arts Center's annual Native American show "Continuing the Tradition". Dustin Twiss, who is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, creates award-winning art based on the natural pattern found on the Fairburn Agate, which is South Dakota's state gemstone. He is a modern conceptual artist whose work focuses on capturing the spirit of the plains through wildlife and scenery while incorporating his love for nature and his culture to share traditional Lakota knowledge. Angela Twiss creates Native American beadwork and will be speaking on the concepts behind her artwork and life experiences rooted in Lakota culture.
