The Ancestral Skills demonstrations and seed festival at Meadowlark Hearth Farm east of Scottsbluff will include information on botany development and ancient history of vegetables. It will be a celebration of the seed with threshing dances and lots of hands-on small scale seed harvesting, cleaning and handling techniques, and sharing general knowledge about seed growing and seed saving. Additionally, there will be demonstrations of ancestral skills like flint knapping, cordage, wild plant identification and uses, bush craft, and ancient seed craft. The event is free an open to the public. Registration is requested. The two-day Ancestral Skills Gathering based at Meadowlark Hearth Farm east of Scottsbluff will include instruction on flint knapping, cordage, wild plant identification and uses, bush craft, ancient seed craft and other ancestral skills. The full-day events will also include socializing, shared meals, music, and dancing. The demonstrations are free, but registration is required for both instructors and participants. Students and instructors are invited to lead demonstrations at the public open house and seed festival on September 1.
