Peru State College will officially become the home to one of the largest collections of African art in the Midwest with the dedication of the Dr. Natalie Hahn African Art Collection. The day's events will unfold in the Performing Arts Center on campus. 1:30 p.m. – Dedication of the Hahn Art Collection 2:00 p.m. – Keynote lecture by folklorist Dr. Henry Glassie on Nigerian artist Prince Twins Seven-Seven 3:00 p.m. – Drum and Dance Performance by African Culture Connection

Tikpere – A Celebration of African Culture (Read More)

Tikpere, meaning “Our Culture and History Will Not Disappear” in Bariba, is a festive community event designed to increase the knowledge of and cultural pride in the history, strengths and contributions of traditional and modern African cultures through a lively, colorful African performance. Doors open at 7:00pm and the performance begins at 7:30. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to experience authentic African culture through vibrant dance, drumming and storytelling. Come watch as the African Culture Connection artists walk you through a beautiful African story of cultural pride and the positive influences Africa has had in our society. Tickets are $25.
