Cristina Kahlo Gallery Talk: Frida Kahlo and the Blue House

The exhibit “Frida Kahlo and the Blue House” presents a selection of over 60 color photographs of the architecture and interior spaces of the Blue House created by Cristina Kahlo as well as vintage black and white photographs taken by Diego Rivera, Antonio Kahlo, Lola Álvarez Bravo, Florence Arquin, and Juan Guzmán.
Photographer Cristina Kahlo will present a gallery talk during the exhibit’s opening reception. The reception will be from 5 – 8 pm, with the gallery talk at 6pm.
Cristina Kahlo is a scholar, and researcher, and a practicing photographer and member of Maestro Julio Galindo’s Platinum Print Workshop in Mexico City. Cristina is one of Mexico’s most prominent contemporary photographers. Her three-decade career follows in the footsteps of her great-grandfather,
Guillermo Kahlo, and father, Antonio Kahlo, both celebrated photographers. Additionally, she is the grandniece of renowned artist Frida Kahlo and is co-curator of “Kahlo: An Expanded Body,” an exhibition that investigates Frida’s medical history through her art. Cristina is the living legacy of one of contemporary Mexico’s most celebrated families, beginning with her great grandfather, her great aunt, and her father. Cristina is fiercely creative and engaging. She is the critically acclaimed resident scholar of the Kahlo family legacy.
