Donald-Brian Johnson is the co-author of several books on Art Deco through Mid-Century decorative arts. Mr. Johnson received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and Speech from Northwestern University. Prior to his career as an author, he worked in the Midwest as an award-winning theatre director, television/radio reporter, and advertising writer.
Johnson has been a frequent seminar speaker for groups such as the Art Deco Society of New York, the Ceramic Arts Studio Collectors Association, the Whiting & Davis Co., and Brownville’s “Wine, Writers, and Song Festival”. He is also a contributing writer for numerous design publications and his monthly columns “Smack Dab in the Middle: Design Trends of the Mid-Twentieth Century” and “Retro Perspectives” are syndicated throughout the United States. A native of Chatfield, Minnesota, Mr. Johnson lives in Omaha.
