Crane River Theater Company will tour a performance of “Pretty Fire” to high schools across Nebraska. Each performance will be followed by a talkback discussion with the actor and director about the themes and topics of the production.

“Pretty Fire” is a one-woman show by Charlayne Woodard, set in the 1950s and 60s in the American south. This award-winning play addresses topics like race, diversity, and the civil rights movement, but the entire play is told through the eyes of a child with stories about her family. The actress will portray more than 20 characters, bringing these stories to life. It’s a unique way for students to connect to that period of history, in a way that isn’t often presented.
