SUMMARY:David Kaufmann presentation
DESCRIPTION:Prior to the August 4 7 p.m. screening at the Grand Theater of “A Life Well Lived”\, a documentary film about David Kaufmann – a Grand Island businessman\, community Leader\, philanthropist and quiet hero – a presentation about his life will be presented at the Grand Island Public Library at 11 a.m. on August 3. \nDavid Kaufmann was a “quiet philanthropist” who did what he could\, from where he was\, to benefit others in his community and beyond. Although he was recognized in the Grand Island community for the work he did here\, he never sought recognition for himself. Kaufmann not only gave of himself; he inspired others to also do good where they could. Through his actions and words\, he made a difference in the lives of many people in the Grand Island community and beyond. \nThe greatest impact however was likely his least known role in sponsoring Jewish families who were fleeing from the horrors of the Nazi regime leading up to World War II. Kaufmann never spoke publicly about this important humanitarian work during his lifetime. However\, the families who were saved due to his actions taken in Grand Island\, Nebraska never forgot what he had done for them and the generations that followed.

SUMMARY:Crane River Page to Stage Grand Island
DESCRIPTION:Crane River Theater is thrilled to bring High School Musical to area libraries! Children will be in awe as this Disney original is transformed into live singing\, dancing\, and acting before their very eyes. Page to Stage shows kids how the characters they read in books can jump from the page to the stage\, and the words can come to life before their eyes. They learn character development to bring their own characters to life. Grand Island Public Library – Meeting Room BC
