Professor of English - Doane University
Evelyn Haller was born in Chicago. She graduated from Barat College in Lake Forest and received an M.A. and Ph.D. from Emory University in Atlanta. She has taught at Emory, at the Mission San Jose Campus of College of the Holy Names in California, at Creighton University, and at Doane. Haller has taught numerous and diverse courses, including Chaucer, Shakespeare, World Literature, Novel, Modern American Literature, Women Writers, Japanese Literature in Translation, Great Plains Studies, and courses in writing.Her published scholarly work has focused on her areas of expertise. She is also a Contributing Editor to "The Feminist Companion to Literature in English"(Yale 1990). Her publications also include work on William Butler Yeats and E. M. Forster. Haller's poetry has appeared in publications in Las Cruces, New Mexico and Dresden, Germany.
She serves on the Mary Riepma Ross Theatre board as well as the board of the Friends of the Lentz Center for Asian Culture. She also serves on the board of the Jane Pope Geske Nebraska Literary Heritage Room at the Bennett Martin Public Library in Lincoln.
