WWI Title Selected for 2016 One Book One Nebraska

“The Meaning of Names” has been selected as the One Book One Nebraska title for 2016.

OBON_MeaningOfNamesWritten by Lincolnite and HN Speakers Bureau member Karen Gettert Shoemaker, this historic novel has been called “reminiscent of Willa Cather.” Set in Nebraska during World War I, the story portrays the plight of German immigrants during a time when anti-German sentiments were on the rise.

“Against the dramatic skies of the Great Plains, and the beauty of the landscape, unfolds a tale of faith and science, love and death,” wrote author Timothy Schaffert.
