Mike Adams, 1948-2015

MikeAdams_ColorA popular member of the HN Speakers Bureau, Mike Adams, passed away on September 17. Mike was a Vietnam-era veteran (1968-1971), honorably discharged as SP5. He was also a talented singer, songwriter, and musician. Mike delighted audiences across Nebraska while educating them about the depression era in a presentation he gave with
his wife, Kate Benzel, titled, “Woody Guthrie: Re-Envis-ioning 1930s America.”

Sayre Dunbar Andersen, 1938-2015

Sayre AndersonSayre Dunbar Andersen passed away on August 24. In addition to serving as an HN board member (1992-1997), Sayre influenced many young people during his 40-year career as a professor of literature, philosophy, and history at Wayne State College, for which he received the Balsley-Whitmore Teaching Excellence Award in 1999.
He also served on the boardsof Nebraskans for Peace and the U.S.-China Peoples Friendship Association.
